Puppy Preschool

This class is for puppies 8 - 16 weeks old. Puppy Preschool includes:

  • Socialization with other pups and people
  • Puppy developmental stages
  • Body language
  • Chewing
  • Bite inhibition
  • Housebreaking
  • Crate training
  • Obedience games

Fee:

  • $80 for 6-week classes/$130 for a punch card (two consecutive classes)
  • $100 for 8-9 week classes/$160 for a punch card (two consecutive classes)

Puppy Kindergarten

This is a six-week class for puppies 16 - 24 weeks old. In this class your puppy has the opportunity to socialize with other puppies and you learn how to handle typical puppy training issues including:

  • House training
  • Controlling jumping and play biting
  • Teaching how to sit, lay down, stay, come, and stand  on command
  • Walking politely on a leash
  • Grooming (nail trimming)

Fee:

  • $80 for 6-week classes/$130 for a punch card (two consecutive classes)
  • $100 for 8-9 week classes/$160 for a punch card (two consecutive classes)

Junior Manners

This six-week class is for puppies under one year old and is based on building a better relationship with your puppy.  Puppies must have prior training, ideal for Puppy Class graduates. This class will include:

  • Walking politely on a leash
  • Sit, down, stand, come and stay
  • Self-control
  • Calming techniques
  • Targeting
  • Attention work

Fee:

  • $80 for 6-week classes/$130 for a punch card (two consecutive classes)
  • $100 for 8-9 week classes/$160 for a punch card (two consecutive classes)

Beginning Manners

This six-week class is for dogs five months and older with minimal or no prior training experience.  This class will include:

  • Walking politely on a leash
  • Sit, down, stand, come, stay
  • Attention work
  • Controlling jumping
  • Self-control
  • Calming techniques
  • Targeting

Intermediate Manners

This six-week class is for graduates of the Junior Manners or Beginning Manners class.  This class includes:
  • Attention work with distractions
  • Sit, down, stand, stay and come with distractions
  • Self-control
  • Targeting
  • Heeling basics
Fee:
  • $80 for 6-week classes/$130 for a punch card (two consecutive classes)
  • $100 for 8-9 week classes/$160 for a punch card (two consecutive classes)

Advanced Manners

A six-week class for graduates of Junior or Beginning Manners. Generally dogs are one year of age and olderThis class will include:

  • Heeling
  • Sit, down, stand, come and stay
  • Attention work with distractions
  • Canine Good Citizen Exercise

You and your dog will be put in situations to teach you to work with a higher level of attention and precision. This class will help you and your dog prepare to take the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test and earn a CGC certificate.

 

The American Kennel Club (AKC) started the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program in 1989 to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. Any dog, purebred or mixed breed, can participate. Showing confidence and control, the dog must complete the following ten steps:
1. Accept a friendly stranger
2. Sit politely for petting
3. Appearance and grooming
4. Out for a walk on a loose lead
5. Walk through a crowd
6. Sit and down on command/stay in place
7. Come when called
8. Reaction to another dog
9. Reactions to distractions
10. Supervised separation
